My 2 Favorite Free Online Commentaries

I love to study God’s word but I need guidance sometimes from commentaries to help me understand what I am studying. I have found two commentaries that I love and use often. There are several other good ones but the following two speak to me and I get a lot out of them.

Bible Ref

I can easily get distracted when an entire commentary chapter is in front of me. Bible Ref goes verse by verse, with several versions of that verse to choose from. I find it pleasing to my brain because of how simply it’s laid out. If what I am reading is too busy, you’ve lost me (I may have ADD, seriously).

I find this site easy to understand and I like the related passages and biblical themes throughout the site. I also find this site easy to maneuver around. You start by reading the verse that you have searched for then scrolling down to the bottom of the page you will then read the commentary for that verse. You then click next verse and you move to the next page. It’s simple, it’s easy. Check out BibleRef.

Enduring Word

My second favorite commentary is Enduring Word. This site provides the whole chapter together and breaks down the meaning of the passages. There are also several language choices. This site was created by Pastor David Guzik. As he was preparing for his teachings he thought that his notes would be helpful to others. Check out their site.

Both sites are completely free and do accept donations if you should feel led to give. I hope that you have found this helpful in your walk with God. If you have a favorite commentary that you’d like to share please comment below, I would love to check it out!
