Verse Mapping 101

I have been verse mapping since January of 2021 and I have grown so close to God through verse mapping. I love how it helps me dive into the word and really understand its meaning, who God is, and how much He loves me.

There are so many themes that you can verse map. I have more verse-mapping tips and some scripture-writing plans coming for you soon.

I have created a FREE downloadable verse mapping starter worksheet for you below. Please feel free to download it and get started! Please leave a comment below and tell us what your favorite verse to map is. Simply right-click and save the image to your desktop.

There is no right or wrong way to verse map. Let God lead and guide you in it.

How to Verse Map

  1. Pray and welcome God into your quiet time.

    2. Write out your verse.

    • Look up different translations of the verse and write them out.
    • Read a few verses before and after the verse you are mapping to get the full meaning.

    3. Highlight or circle words that you don’t know or that jump out to you.

    4. Research the meaning of the verse. I like to use the following websites for references.

    5. Who wrote the book, when, where, and why?

    6. The overall message of the verse.

    7. Find corresponding verses.

    8. How can I apply this to my life and what is God saying to me?

    9. Pray and ask God to show you how you can apply what you learned today to your life. Memorize your verse.

Some of my favorite verse maps that I have done are:

    Psalm 103: 1-8

Psalm 1391-18, I did this over several days

    Proverbs 14:30

    Proverbs 31: 29-31

    Romans 5:1-5

    James 1:2-5
